GEFCC Receives National Recognitions for Quality of Care – Yet Again

GEFCC’s 2017 outcomes on the Bureau of Primary Health Care’s Clinical Indicators have again been recognized as among the best of all Federally Qualified Health Centers in Illinois and the United States – for the 5th year in a row!

The Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) recognized GEFCC as a Health Center Quality Leader on August 22, 2018, with Greater Elgin Family Care Center being awarded its 5th consecutive Health Center Quality Leader award.

GEFCC also received the prestigious Advancing Health Information Technology for Quality award, in recognition of GEFCC’s comprehensive use of integrated HIT, both internally and through interoperable IT communication systems with external collaborating organizations. Also awarded to GEFCC was the Primary Care Medical Home Recognition and Electronic Health Record Reporter awards.

The Awards are based on GEFCC’s internal sophistication and 2017 clinical outcomes, which substantially outpaced the Illinois benchmark on 13 of 16 reportable Clinical Indicators. In addition, GEFCC’s clinical outcomes were also better than the National average of 13 of 16 Indicators.

GEFCC was also recognized by the Centers for Disease Control as a 2017 Million Hearts Hypertension Control Champion.

The recognitions again acknowledge that Greater Elgin Family Care Center’s operations and outcomes are superior to those of most Health Centers in the State and Nationally.

“Maintaining our excellent clinical outcomes year-over-year is a substantial challenge, given the high percentage of uninsured patients that our practitioners care for and the constantly evolving Illinois primary health care landscape. It’s another testament to the skill, passion and ongoing dedication all of staff have that, for the 5th year in a row, GEFCC has again received such prestigious awards from HHS/HRSA and the CDC” said Bob Tanner, President/CEO of Greater Elgin Family Care Center.
